The Kiln team inspects wares and loads them into the kilns. All team members are trained to load both bisque and glaze ware and run the kilns functions. The Current Leader is Sarah.
The Reduction kiln has its own special team as reduction firing is different from oxidative firing (electric). This team is trained on loading, unloading and running our large reduction kiln. The Current Leader is Bill.
The Pug Team at SPG processes all of our trimmings and slop into ready to use clay. This team is trained to run our pug mills, condition our slop and dry it out. They also assist in clay storage around the studio. The Current leader is Miechelle
The Raku firing team is trained in the set up and take down of our raku kilns as well as safely executing the raku firing process in our parking lot at the studio. We are currently looking for someone to lead the Raku firings.
Our Open Studio Monitors (OSM) wear red aprons and manage the studio during open hours. They are responsible for helping members pay fees or for clay and ensure everyone check in and out of volunteer local. They are also responsible for performing the house keeping tasks that keep our studio safe and enjoyable. They are also happy to answer ceramic questions and to help students and members learn our policies and procedures. The Current leader of the OSM is Julia.
Our Classes and education currently manage class and workshop registrations. They also ensure that our teachers are educating students on SPG policies and procedures and providing quality ceramic instruction in a friendly and relaxed manner. The Current leader here is Hilda.
We have a few dedicated individuals that keep all our equipment running smoothly (fixing kilns, wheels, etc.) and our building in great shape (plumbing, security, electrical, etc.) Mike is the current leader of this team.
