This is fast-moving 3lb sculpture class. Our focus is on exploration with clay and trying to capture the pose and swag of your favorite dog.

In this handbuilding class students will experience creating a design from coils and place the coils in a mold to make a design. In addition, students will make a mug with a handle out of stabs to make a set. The bowl and mug will be painted with color underslips.
Please come in clothing that can get wet and dirty and dress warm.

Description:
Expand your skillset in the clay studio in this intermediate class. We will explore surface textures, lids, pulled handles, altered forms, collaring/choking, and other techniques depending on student interest.
Cost of class includes weekly instruction, studio glazes and firing of all pieces made during class. A membership is not required, however students may purchase a membership ($48/month) for studio time between classes.
Prerequisite: Students should previously taken a Fundamentals of Pottery course and/or have a mastery of wedging, centering and throwing a cylinder.
Note: Wheel throwing is physically demanding and requires holding static positions for extended periods of time. This class is not recommended for individuals with chronic pain and/or injuries in the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulders.
Age: 16+
Cost: $200.00 + the cost of clay.
Students may purchase a 25 lb bag of clay from Gizmo for the member price of $30, or a 6 lb tube of recycled clay for $6. Due to firing requirements, we cannot allow clay in this class purchased outside of Gizmo.
