We are a non-profit, non-production teaching ceramic art studio! You must be a member and or a student to participate in SPG's Open Studio Program. Thanks!
To promote the general knowledge of the ceramic arts by contributing to the artistic, educational and cultural awareness of the community. To provide a supportive organization and facility for non-production ceramic artists of all skill levels. A place where they can network with each other in order to broaden skills
We are a non-profit, volunteer based organization that had its beginnings in 1977 as part of the Spokane YWCA. With some of its founding members still part of the guild, SPG has maintained a consistant mission and commitment to serving as an art forum resource to the community. We have had artitists and instructors with works displayed in gallereries throught the Northwest states.
SPG relies on volunteers who have an interest in and appreciation for what the guild offers. We offer 8 week classes for adults 18 year and older, in general ceramics on a quarterly basis and an open studio experience for artists to share skills and knowledge about anything pertaining to ceramics. We fund our studio with membership fees, class tuition, fund raisers and donations.
Our Annual membership is for adults at least 18 years old who have completed at least one of our classes. By becoming an Annual Member, one is agreeing to follow all SPG policies and procedures, support the SPG mission statement and to actively assist SPG in its efforts to serve our studio and the community through volunteering in its daily functions and periodic activities. The benefits of becoming an Annual member include: eligible to run for board positions, attend board meetings and vote during the Annual Board Meeting, sell items at SPG board approved events, access to luster firings, a studio locker to store personal items (subject to availability) and two free bags of our high quality recycled clay. Clay purchases cover the cost of firing and studio glazes.
Open studio members must also be 18 years and older and have taken at least one of our classes (must have attended 12 of 14 hours instruction). By becoming a member, one is agreeing to follow all SPG policies and procedures. Members are encouraged to get involved on our various teams. In return, members have unlimited access to available open studio time and equipment. Clay purchases includes price of firing and studio glazes.
